SIFE Fashion With Passion

|
Here are the photos from the SIFE Nottingham University Charity Fashion Show. Ever changing lighting situations makes setting up my camera, manual white balance and flash power a huge challenge but nevertheless a great experience.

I was earlier on shooting from the pit directly facing the runway. However, I wanted something different than everybody else so I moved to a different position for something different. Next up would be a couple of pictures of what was happening backstage and after the event. Enjoy the photos !

Note that some of the photos are featured on my official flash page SIMAARON.COM under 'Fashion' and 'Runway'. Do look it up !

Sneak Peak : Fashion Show

|

Yesterday, Students In Free Enterprise a.k.a SIFE of Nottingham University Malaysia organized a charity fashion show titled Fashion with Passion. It was a well earned experience for myself shooting under yellow lights and there were quite a lot of photographers bursting their flashes from the pit when the model hits the runway

.... but that doesn't mean that I have to stay in the pit the whole time getting straight forward portraiture shots. I went for a different angle instead, some say it was a bad idea (I don't normally do this for fashion week shoots). To be different, I took the risk. Keep check on this blog for the next couple of days as I will upload pictures from what's going on backstage to the tip of the runway !

Fellow photographers who joined me were -

William Sudhana (Indonesia)
Jason Lau (Malaysia)
Nicholas Chee (Malaysia)

So do check out their photos as well.

MacBeth Footwear - The Brighton

|

MacBeth shoes are now available in Malaysia !

December, 2009 - MacBeth opened up a huge booth at Rock The World 9 concert event sponsoring 2 of Malaysia's most popular band PopShuvit and One Buck Short. And so I was sent by these 2 bands to head down to the MacBeth booth (slightly messed up cause of the rain and people pushing under the tent to get shelter) to grab a couple of pictures. Was thinking of checking out and getting one of em' T-shirts too but darn it there were so many people !

MacBeth footwear co-founded by Tom DeLonge known for fronting bands like Blink 182, Box Car Racer and Angels & Airwaves.

Below is the Tom DeLonge MacBeth Studio Project - The Brighton and if that's what I think it is, Tom DeLonge's signature (correct me if I'm wrong) on the side of those shoes. You would wanna grab this 'Ay aS Ay Pea' cause it's going to be the next sold out sneakers in a couple of months time. (Birthday present hint alert XP!)

Find out more HERE

Here are some photos that I shot from the booth. I wish the conditions that day would allow me to get better pictures but it was just awful, wet and slightly muddy caused by the rain. Thank goodness these awesome pair of shoes were kept well !

What To Expect In 2010

|
2009 is coming to an end in about 2 and the half weeks. It has been crazy so far. Good kind of crazy. I've uploaded tonnes of music photography and I'm glad you've been following those photos. For 2010, I'll be looking into something with more emotion, more soul and a whole new level of music and fashion photography. Here's a preview of what you can expect in 2010.

Xuan - The Flower Photo From 2008

|
It looks like I'll be spending most of my time from Monday to Thursday simulating a bunch of stuffs on the fluid dynamics software. On top of that, I now have a market research to do for my chemical plant design and posting up photos in bulk on facebook like I used to is not going to happen anytime soon.

I was deleting some photos on my hard disc and came across this shot of a good friend of mine Xuan.

Shereen Michelle 2009 Series 3

|

Here's a few colored photos to wrap up the photoshoot. I'm definitely going to fix another time with her do an indoor shoot ( don't worry Shereen, in an air-conditioned room this time ! ) But for now, this is all I have. Look out for revisions of the pictures as I have a couple more editing ideas that I would like to try out during my free time (because it takes a lot of time and I don't have any this week, boohoo). Thank you for viewing and keep check !

My favourite picture of the entire shoot.

3 more additions to the black and white. Thank you all for the comments on my messenger (post it on the blog post! XP), I'll be posting up some colored ones after this hehe, don't worry, I didn't ditch the color pictures to go all black and white with tints.

Here are some more photos of the black and white series.

Shereen Michelle 2009 Series 1

|

I kicked off the Shereen Michelle photoshoot with the aim to achieve a higher personal goal in the high key fashion photography field while trying to minimize shooting time, number of shots and post processing time spent for every shot. Thanks you Mikael and Jenn for the quick advice 15 minutes before the shoot ! It's been a while since I attended a spontaneous portraiture shootout.

Thanks to brother Kweys and Eugene for the invitation.

And thank you Shereen for spending some time enduring the hot weather and the blazing sun light.

I'll be releasing these photos in sets not because I think that they are that damn good or that it is jolly good fun for me to keep you guys waiting and anticipating but it is because I have major engineering project datelines for the entire week.

Here are some of the photos. Hope you all enjoy them and please, do drop comments. It's always wonderful to know what's on your mind when you view my pictures. Cheerio !
